DIY Halloween Tree

How to make a spooky Halloween tree using twigs.
Easy to make Halloween centerpiece.

If you're looking for a fun Halloween decor idea, trying to DIY something spooky last minute, or if you simply want a cute and ghoulish craft to do with your kids, this easy to follow step-by-step tutorial may be a way to go (oh, and it's cheap to make, too!).

You will need:
- wire photo holder stand
- twig with lots of shoots (resembling a small tree) or few smaller twigs
- black water-paint
- small paintbrush
- cup of water (to clean the brush)
- hot glue gun or craft glue
- spooky confetti (bats, ghosts, spiderwebs, etc.)

Optionally:
- glass lantern or hurricane lamp
- fairy lights ( preferably orange-colored)

Instructions:
Scavenge your local forest to find a thin twig with lots of shoots that closely resemble a young tree. You can also choose few smaller twigs and glue them together. Make sure that twigs are dry. You can leave them to dry for a week or so to make sure they don't get moldy.
Paint twigs black.

Wait until they're completely dry, glue them together (if applicable).

You can retouch paint in glued-on spots and then (using a small amount of glue; a dot will do) attach confetti shapes to the 'branches'. You can glue bats on upside down (for a more spooky effect) or mix it up and glue on all the different shapes you have.

Clip your tree to the photo holder. Make sure glue has harden and confetti is firmly attached before placing branches on the holder.

You can display your freaky, leafless tree as it is (clipped to the photo holder) or place it inside the hurricane lamp or glass lantern (skip the photo holder, if necessary).

If you decide to use the lantern, you can gently wrap a string of fairy lights around the tree or place the string at the bottom of the lantern, letting it softly glow to create more ambiance.

Happy Crafting!
